It takes additional training and experience to address the hearing concerns of children. Our clinic offers evaluations for children from birth up to age 18.
A pediatric evaluation is similar to an adult, but with greater emphasis on current language development, any developmental delays, and also a focus on maximizing educational goals. We have the latest auditory brainstem response equipment, along with otoacoustic emissions and visual reinforcement audiometry available. For young children, we use play audiometry to encourage accurate results. We also utilize calibrated word testing and educational inventories to get a full picture of how potential hearing loss is affecting the child.
