ACCESS TO HEALTH

At United Way of Greater Mercer County, we understand that good health is both a community responsibility and a community benefit. By partnering with community-based organizations throughout Mercer County, we are working to create a more resilient community.

SUMMER HUNGER

Strike Out Hunger is a community-driven initiative that unites companies, individuals, and advocates to alleviate hunger in Mercer County. The United Way estimates that 55,000 local families are struggling to make ends meet.* Therefore, Strike Out Hunger provides meals and fresh produce to food pantry beneficiaries during the summer months when food becomes scarce for households in our community.

FAMILY SIZE

In partnership with FamilyWize Community Service Partnership, we make prescriptions more affordable to the community. FamilyWize cards have provided needed relief with great success to individuals and families in Mercer County.

EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER PROGRAM

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) is a federally-funded program administrated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). We are the fiscal agent for these funds and convene a local board that determines which social service agencies receive the funds in Mercer County. The local board does this through an allocation formula using the most recent national population, unemployment, and poverty statistics.
