In Los Angeles County alone, the foster care population exceeds 21,000 children. Within the local foster care program, 500 of those foster children are waiting for an adoptive family and place to call home.
Many of these foster youth are siblings in need of a resource family that is willing and able to keep them together. Because the number of children in need of care exceeds the number of foster family applicants available, our foster care agency is forced to turn away 10+ sibling sets weekly. We wish this werent the case.
Our team at Childrens Bureau works to strengthen at-risk families and local communities so that every child can grow up safe, nurtured, and full of life. We empower you to make a difference in your own communities by becoming a foster parent.
Help local at-risk youth by giving them a home thats familiar, nearby, and inclusive to their foster siblings. You have the opportunity to change a childs life. Continue reading to learn more about resource families, foster care, and the foster-adoption process.
